If you missed the news, Saturday (April 26th) was Indie Bookstore day! I can't tell you how much I love a good indie bookstore. I happen to be blessed to be a patron of two amazing genre fiction stores. Most of my reading is fantasy and science fiction (of the LGBTQIA+ variety), but I can't say I don't love a good romance every so often too.

So where do I go to shop when the need hits?

Mysterious Galaxy is an amazing indie bookstore in San Diego. The staff is amazing and every time I've gone in looking for a recommendation, they have hit it out of the park with some pretty great reads. Not only that, but they host the local Writers Coffeehouse. It's a once a month gathering where local writers come together to talk the latest new in the business and dig into the craft and working side of a writer's life.

They have an amazing selection of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and mystery books that can make any geeky heart happy :P

In Bloom Bookery is a newly opened romance bookstore in Temecula. They opened in March and it was an amazing day. There was a line down the street to get in to the store to browse their amazing catalogue of books. The owners are really sweet and I haven't met anyone who hasn't walked out of there smiling yet! And to top it off, they're working with local book clubs and writing groups! Including two genre meet-ups that I'm doing every month. They're amazing people and they're really coming all out for their local reading/writing community and I can't wait to see how much they grow!

Did you miss the big day? That's okay! Make today your own personal Indie Bookstore day! They need our support every day, so if you have a book to buy, maybe take a gander at these amazing stores and hit that buy button on their website!

So while you're world exploring this week, remember to support your favorite indie bookstores, my friends!
